Initially, I wanted to take off a week or so from blogging to focus on a big project: Cleaning Out the Closet! I began the transition the bulk of my wardrobe from campus roaming to work appropriate and finally had to grasp the reality of having not enough room for everything. If I wanted to be able to find something to wear, I had to make some room! It's hard to let go of the comfy but the reality of not actually wearing these things on a regular basis finally sunk in and I now have a box of donate-ables. And I've finally let go of a few pairs of shoes. Whew!
So that's where I was initially, digging out the spares. Then came the change.
Last week, I was laid off. I can't say that it was unexpected. It's like watching for hurricanes, there's always the threat, and even though the reality is that one could sit above your house and wash you away, you never think it'll actually happen to you. This time, "it" actually happened to me. It took me a good week for the reality of being jobless to finally sink in.
I'm going to do my best to make the most of my newly awarded unpaid vacation to job hunt and pursue a few projects here and there. Additionally, if you or someone you know may have a need for an awesome engineer with varied talents and a great personality... send them my way :D
